a homunculus is formed by when trying to bring ut back to life but it fails thts how on is formed
a failed human transmutation only resulted in a humunculus in the original anime that completely and utterly deverted from the manga, LOTS of things were different in the manga, and thats what this short series is clearly based off of.

A homunculus is a new being created via alchemy whereas this was the body of a dead girl the alchemist attempted to return to life (or someone’s body at any rate). At least that’s what I thought. I haven’t actually finished the series yet so maybe something turns up that makes it worth the confusion, I wouldn’t know.
That is one seriously messed up family by the way. I have no idea how that woman can cope with the semi-dead form of her daughter being there in her house :(
thats what i was thinking but she isn’t a humunculas later on-she never shows up. So i really dont get that part of it either.
